our October was truly a treat!
just the other day I even thought of this and Pappa Bear and I smiled..
Our girls are SO LUCKY!!!
They have two sets of Grandparents
both near and far
but both are truly special!
They are so close!
Our October the Grandparents from Sweden visited!
Farmor & Farfar!
It was so nice to see our families come together and be just one!
Sharing our traditions… stories… remember whens…
smiles… laughter… and lots of wine!

seriously… can you stand it!
I cannot!
I could watch this for days!
This party took me back! took me back to my days… growing up out in the country… sugared donuts… bobbing for apples… dressing up with paint stuck to your eye brows…
the one day a year that you get to be something else…
Didn’t you always want to be a Fairy!!!

or a cat!

just climbing a big tree… sometimes that’s enough…

we have had some amazing fall sunsets… the kinds that take hours to set… the kinds that you forget about the mosquitoes nibbling on your ankles… totally worth the glimpse..
Being outside this time of year is what life is all about.
the smells of oranges ripening… the sounds of children on the other sides of fences… the hint of Christmas getting closer and closer…
it’s so so exciting!

I love my Fairies!!!

(disclaimer… we totally had intentions to have two little Super Heros… but a visit to the fabric store and passing the fairy wing aisle… who can leave JoAnn’s as a super hero…? Fairy wings! The most glittery blues and purples a little girl has ever seen!…
yes please!)

a little kindergarten Thanksgiving Performance… could possibly be one of my favorite things! I remember being a pilgrim 26 years ago… my friend Jule Marie having trouble tying her bonnet on… my ears making mine stick out… some of the kids were Native American Indians… I loved their feathers… I secretly wanted to be an Indian! but I stuck with a black and white Pilgrim and rocked it!
to see my little girl American Indian on stage… singing the songs… I remembered them… sailing her hands like the Mayflower… smiling… shining… it made me sparkle for her!

Pumpkin Pies were a big deal of course!
my Mom always makes the BEST pumpkin pies and our little Isabelle could maybe eat an entire pie… forget the turkey!

Photobucket

Pappa and his girls always make the family bread rolls for Thanksgiving… while the Macy’s Day Parade is blaring of course!
We take breaks to kick our legs with the Rockette’s yes, even Pappa does… one day I think I am going to be a Rockette… it’s coming soon!

and a family Thanksgiving is the Finale!
we play croquet!
we had so many family members from so far away all at one table! it was so special! So great for our girls to experience! I think something that is so important and starting to lack a bit in the modern day is family… family dinners… aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents… all coming together… the value of this is truly priceless…
the stories… the remember whens…
growing up so many good memories were with family…
if children have a good sense of family
close and distant
they will feel more connected to their past… their ancestors…
they will want to be something special… a good person… a kind soul… for them… but also for their family…

I think I may be “Thankful” for my “Family”
I may have stolen that from our oldest… but I think it’s a good one!
