we made it... at last... the journey is always long and hard but it really is what we make it... lots of smiles and silly songs make the day of adventure a happy one for sure.
Every year we visit Pappa's mother land of Sweden... it's so fantastic here in the summertime! like something you've never seen before... so many children singing, laughing, running every which way... people enjoying ice cream walking their dogs. The sun is shining and every bird I am sure is on holiday to a land where sunny smiles are filling these gorgeous Swedes lives.....
we are welcomed and toasted with strawberry champagne! delicious! even Isabelle has a taste... she likes it.. but just a bit :-)
it's such a tradition the first night here my mother-in-law always has ready for us a rhubarb pie... using fresh rhubarb from their garden... yummmmy!!!
and what a treat to have it with homemade LAVENDER ice cream!!! Their entire front walkway is lined with lavender so that smell is something I never get tired of....
in the evening we take a stroll to the playground nearby so the girls can burn a little airplane steam.... running with Simba the dog is such an adventure for Isabelle... she calls him her friend... how sweet!
so we have really been enjoying some down time... sitting having coffee, reading books, letting the children play in the kiddie pool... just being on a restful vacation is enough...
oh, i can't wait to learn more about Sweden and follow you and your family's adventures! Anything that starts off with Champagne sounds good to me! : )
ReplyDeleteHomemade lavender ice-cream sounds intriguing! I'm with Amy...can't wait to see more!

hmm. . . can we come too?! Sounds perfect.
ReplyDeleteomg this lavender ice cream is so crazy good!!! I'm having my second helping just now... it's amazing!!! you use lavender sugar which you can make by putting some flower buds in your sugar jar... then you pluck a bunch of buds and make it just like usual ice cream! yummmm!!!
ReplyDeletei make usual ice cream by going to publix and picking it out of the freezer.....sorry couldn't resist! it sounds very good. glad you are all having a nice time. even though i am at home crying (not).
